Running Oomap costs real money for the hardware and running costs, and developing. maintaining and supporting Oomap costs real time. Oomap has always been, and will continue to be, free but users often want to contribute.
Until recently all these costs were incurred by Oomap’s founder, Oliver O’Brien. More recently, I have taken on the development and then hosting (at https://oomap.dna-software.co.uk). In addition to this server, Stephen Borrill is now hosting a backup server at https://oomap.ptlnet.com to add extra resilience.
To simplify support and prompted by Oliver, the site now has a single “Support Oomap” button:
Any donations will be distributed between me as primary maintainer/developer, Stephen (to contribute towards his hosting costs) and Oliver (to recognise his founding of oomap and development over 12 years).
Thank you!

Well done for your work, your card editor is becoming very interesting for sports teachers. I’m developing the free Vikazimut application and some teachers have asked me if we could make the two software packages compatible. Would it be possible to export files compatible with Vikazimut from your website?
I need XML 3.0 (already present) and a kmz export but with the image file of the route and not the blank map as at present. I’d also need to limit the resolution of the kmz map image to 3MB maximum. We could imagine either putting a message asking you to lower the resolution or automatically adapting the resolution to be below this maximum in your map editor?
Hi Eric,
Yes, happy to try to improve the compatibility.
XML 3.0 – yes, already done but it sounds like this isn’t yet fully compatible? Let me know what needs changing.
KMZ size – A typical A4 map gives a ~ 1 MB KMZ so probably OK; the resolution can already be manually adjusted if needed.
KMZ course – should be easy to add in, but just need to find a sensible way to add this option.
I will track this at https://github.com/oobrien/oomap/issues/84
