Annoyingly there have been significant gaps in the coverage in my home county of Hertfordshire, which have meant that some of our <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.herts-orienteering.club\/fixtures\/street-o-2022\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.herts-orienteering.club\/fixtures\/street-o-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\">Street-O<\/a> events have been unable to use LIDAR contours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the composite English LIDAR dataset is incomplete, individual surveys over the last couple of winters (when leaf cover is lower) have covered Herts &#8211; as illustrated by this survey flight track from March 2021:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"806\" height=\"474\" src=\"https:\/\/oomap.dna-software.co.uk\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/image-47.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oomap.dna-software.co.uk\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/image-47.png 806w, https:\/\/oomap.dna-software.co.uk\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/image-47-300x176.png 300w, https:\/\/oomap.dna-software.co.uk\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/image-47-768x452.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 806px) 100vw, 806px\" \/><figcaption>Flight track data overlaid on Openstreetmap data, mapping (c) MapBox and Openstreetmap contributors.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve eventually put in the effort to download the individual high-resolution Herts data and combined it to give the image at the top &#8211; the Digital Terrain Model for most of Herts (West of the Lea Valley).
